Interesting or useful websites

A friend of mine recently alerted me to a new website touting itself as an online directory that purposefully scrapes publicly available personal information and aggregates it in a search-able database. What's most disturbing about this website is that it doesn't bother notifying you that it's doing this, and the information it collects is either freely available, or for a paltry handful of USDs, you can get quite a bit more. I won't actually print their full URL here, as I don't want to give them the link credit, but the site is triple-W dot SPOKEO dot com.

Man, blogging on a schedule is hard! One of these weeks I'll actually post a recap on time...

Not an auspicious start to a new feature of the site, but technical glitches prevented it from arriving on Friday, as originally intended.
Each week, I'll provide a list of articles (and sometimes websites in general) that I've perused as part of my regular web wanderings. Most will be pertinent to the technology industry, as would be appropriate for this site, but I'll include any article that happened to grab my attention.
This is a throwback to the original "blog" format, which used to be a mailing list through which you and your friends/colleagues/peers would share websites that you found in your daily surfing. Without further ado, here's the first week's recap:
